Elephant Yam 250 gms.
V.V.S. Gingelli Oil To deep fry
Finely Cut Onions 1/2 Cup
Coriander leaves 1 Tbl. Sp
Powder together:
Roasted gram 1 Cup
Grated fresh coconut 1 Tbl. Sp
Green chillies 8
Ginger ½ inch piece
Garlic 4 flakes
Aniseed ½ tsp
Cloves 2 or 3
Cinnamon 1 inch piece
Salt as required


  • Peel and slice the yam ad steam cook it in pressure cooker.
  • Allow to cool and mash thoroughly.
  • Powder the mentioned Ingredients first in a mixie, mix with boiled yam, onions and coriander leaves.
  • If necessary add little water while grinding.
  • Prepare small bondas and deep fry until golden in hot Oil. Serve with tomato sauce.
Note: Add small gooseberry sized tarmaind in hot gingelli Oil. Take out when it turns dark. Deep fry bondas after that. This prevents foaming of Oil.
